Privacy Policy

How Cheff handles the details you share to plan meals, organize groceries, and get help in your kitchen.

Enigma Technologies LLC · Effective September 7, 2026

1. Information we collect

Account information includes your email address, name, account identifier, authentication information, and sign-in provider information when you choose Apple or Google sign-in.

Planning information includes the details you enter about yourself and your household: age, body measurements, activity level, nutrition goals, allergies, dietary preferences, food likes and dislikes, serving counts, meal schedules, grocery budget, shopping preferences, and pantry items. Some of this information may reveal health-related information. Only provide household information you are authorized to share.

Your content includes meal plans, recipes, grocery lists, chat messages, notes to Cheff, recipe feedback, saved preferences, and support requests. We also record subscription status, purchase and transaction identifiers, and related billing events. Apple or Stripe processes payment details; Cheff does not store your full payment-card number.

Technical and usage information includes device and browser information, IP addresses handled by our hosting and security services, session and account identifiers, feature interactions, referral information, diagnostics, and service logs. If you enable notifications, we collect a device push token, notification preferences, and delivery or interaction information.

2. How we use information

We use information to create and secure accounts; personalize nutrition targets, meals, recipes, groceries, and Cheff assistance; remember food preferences; process and restore subscriptions; provide support; deliver notifications you enable; measure service use; diagnose failures; prevent abuse; and meet legal obligations.

Nutrition and allergy information is used to personalize the planning features you request. Cheff is an AI planning tool, not a medical service. Avoid adding medical records or sensitive information that is not needed for meal planning.

3. AI processing and OpenAI

Cheff uses OpenAI to generate nutrition targets, meal plans, recipes, grocery lists, chat responses, and food-preference suggestions. When you use these features, relevant profile and household information, dietary and allergy details, pantry and budget information, meal or recipe context, feedback, notes, or chat messages may be sent to OpenAI through our servers. Generated results and saved preference information may be stored with your Cheff account.

You can choose what information to enter and whether to use AI features. Updating a profile does not automatically erase earlier messages or generated results. Contact us to request deletion of previously stored information. OpenAI also processes information under its applicable service terms and privacy practices; do not include passwords or payment credentials in prompts.

4. Services that process information

We use service providers to operate Cheff, including Supabase for account authentication and data storage; OpenAI for AI processing; Vercel and Amazon Web Services for hosting, operations, and diagnostics; and Expo and Apple notification services for mobile notifications. Providers receive information needed for the functions they perform.

Apple handles iOS subscription purchases and Stripe handles web billing. We receive purchase or subscription information to verify access and assist with billing. If you choose Apple or Google sign-in, that provider processes the sign-in and shares the account information permitted by that flow.

When you choose to send a grocery list to Instacart, shopping-list and ingredient information is shared to create the shopping experience. Instacart separately handles information you provide on its service, including checkout and delivery details. Its privacy policy applies there.

We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and safety or investigate abuse, or as part of a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the business, subject to applicable protections.

5. Cookies, device storage, and analytics

The website and app use cookies and device storage to maintain sign-in sessions, remember settings, and support functionality. Website analytics and Cheff event records help us understand page visits, account setup, feature use, and subscription or shopping flows. Some Cheff events are associated with your account or session. We use Vercel Web Analytics on the website.

You can clear browser or app storage and control cookies through your browser. Doing so may sign you out or remove local preferences. You can disable push notifications through your device settings and adjust available notification preferences in Cheff.

6. Retention and security

We retain account and planning information to provide your saved experience and retain operational, billing, security, and support records as needed for their purposes and applicable obligations. Retention varies by data type; we do not promise one automatic deletion period for all information. Backups and records needed for legal, fraud-prevention, or accounting purposes may remain after a deletion request.

We use safeguards such as encrypted connections, authentication, and access controls. No service can guarantee absolute security. Keep your account credentials private and contact us if you suspect unauthorized access.

7. Your choices and privacy requests

You can review and update available profile, household, food, and notification settings in Cheff. On the website or iOS app, open Profile → Delete my account and type DELETE to permanently remove your account and associated app data. During iOS onboarding, use Profile settings. You can delete immediately, even with an active subscription. For access, correction, a copy of your information, or other privacy requests, email support@cheff-ai.com from the address connected to your account. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request. Please do not send your password or full payment details.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to restrict or object to processing or to complain to a privacy regulator. Contact us to exercise applicable rights. Account deletion and subscription cancellation are separate: cancel Apple subscriptions in your Apple Account settings to stop future renewals. Account deletion cancels web subscriptions automatically.

8. Children and household information

Household planning can include information about family members. A parent or guardian should manage information about a child and share only details necessary for the requested planning. If you believe a child provided information without appropriate permission, contact support@cheff-ai.com so we can investigate and address it.

9. Where information is processed

Cheff is operated by Enigma Technologies LLC. Information is processed in the United States and may be processed in other countries where our service providers operate. Privacy laws in those locations may differ from those where you live.

10. Changes and contact

This policy applies to the Cheff AI website and mobile app. We may update it as the service changes and will post the revised policy with an updated effective date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or request consent.

For questions about this policy or how Enigma Technologies LLC handles your information, contact support@cheff-ai.com.
